My new bird hangs upside down from the top of his cage when he goes to sleep. It's the cutest most bizarre thing ever. I'd take photos but I don't want to turn on the light or use a camera flash.

He's so different to our other rescued bird (the canary that has brain damage from extreme heat stroke). She is in her own little world 80% of the time so having a loud chirpy neighbour kind of ruins that for her.

Here she is telling him to stfu.

In completely unrelated news, Dad and I were talking about the Beatles before and suddenly dad says "I remember when Paul did that gay- *cough* uh, concert. I meant to say concert. When Paul did that concert..." I gave him a WTF look and he was like "sorry, I was looking at your computer screen and I just saw the word ~gay~"

*DEAD*

Mannequin card exchange is still stressing me out. For the love of God Seiichi, PLEASE tell me when your card reaches you. I feel like a moron chasing up 'lost' mail that actually reached its destination 3 weeks ago.

I dreamt that I was sitting on a beach, looking out at the water and sifting the sand through my fingers. Then I found a tooth in the sand. And another, and another! Suddenly I'm frantically raking through the sand with my hands and digging up loads of teeth. And a stranger gives me a bottle of drinking water.

What does that even mean?

So my 2004 entry probably missed a lot of details, it was a pretty crazy year, that really reflected on my studies. I really just didn't give a shit at all. I don't know if that really changed all that much the next year.

Let's go back to 2005. )
Back to the current times.

At work, early start again. Had the day off yesterday, first day off in quite some time. Went out Ocean Rafting again. I bought Francisca the trip as her Christmas present, she really liked it. We had a pretty great day together. After the trip in the boat to Hill Inlet lookout and Whitehaven Beach, we did two snorkels. The visibility wasn't quite as good as the last time I went out, and didn't get to see quite as many big fish. I bought one of those disposable underwater cameras this time, hopefully the photos turnout sweet.

Haven't really done so much the last few days, been pretty busy with work. Have a bunch of paperwork to catch up on and I am NOT excited about that. Yuck. Going to make a new post and continue going back through the decade.

DISNEY! NICOLAS CAGE! JERRY BRUCKHEIMER! JON TURTELTAUB! IT'S LIKE A FUCKING NATIONAL TREASURE REUNION.

Hnnnngh why did this have to come out the day my Nic Cage icon became inactive?

Also, if anybody has a spare US$500,000 there's a Carl Barks original oil painting up for grabs on eBay. I CAN'T GET OVER THAT. I think if I ever saw one of his works in real life I'd cry like a baby.

IT BELONGS IN A MUSEUM. ALL THIS STUFF DOES.

Hmm...I can't make the photo link work so I give you the links to dA instead and lastly link to photographer:

It's like I haven't felt the power to create sturdy full filled/ full filling work as when I was alone at 11:00pm in the Drawing Studio at TAFE...
A whole multi story building to your self, on the top floor taking up 2 square metres; hunched over, covered in charcoal and pastel.
Having things done, finishing work on time, not being distracted or pulling yourself down.

2004

This was a pretty sweet year. I got to see a lot of bands. I moved to Canberra to begin uni, however I was going up to Sydney almost every weekend to hang out with my friends. I went to Brisbane a few times...firstly to see Korn, Fear Factory and Static X. I was rich so I splashed out and stayed in a hotel. It was a bit of a weird experience staying there. Somehow I didn't miss my plane, it had to wait for me to get on. I came incredibly close to spewing on the plane.

One weekend we saw Full Scale four days in a row...Sydney, Newcastle, Mona Vale and Wollongong. Me, Ferrit, Nikki and Brooke made the trek to all of them. This was first year of uni, so I met people like Doug (hey man can I look at your textbook) and Thommo (oh you live on old res too and study sports management...we're friends now).. I lived on old res all year, lived a general uni life...hung out with Leigh and Dana and Ben in the first part of the year. This year was my first Stonefest....Groove Armada played and it cost $15.

Brooke and I followed Frankenbok around on the Army of Darkness tour (Sunk Loto, Full Scale, Frankenbok, 8 Foot Sativa). This was when I fist met Rock n Roll Joel. He had driven from Adelaide to Coffs Harbour just for the show. What a rager. It was also when I first met Karina, I had been talking to her online and asked her if she could pick Brooke and I up at the airport, and then she offered to drive us to Brisbane as well.

I was still heavily into rollerblading as well. Midway through the year I started getting back into footbag, I had a couple of years off from taking it seriously. I still hadn't got lavers or a proper bag, but I was taking a real interest in it again. HYGS (Have You Got Style), came to Canberra. This was a pretty amazing day. Most of the rollerbladers in Australia came out. Lizzie's boyfriend at the time stacked on a 900 down the Belco library stairs, smashed his face in and broke his nose. Tristan was a maniac. Gary was the local hero. I barely see any of those guys any more.

I went to Brisbane again, Butterfly Effect were playing a secret show...this was the night where Kelly and Karina clashed heads "oh my god I love this song" they went to hug and smashed their heads together. "It's ok I'm training to be a doctor". Turns out this girl was a first year student, 18 years old.

On my 20th birthday we went to Sea World, it was really great. That was a pretty sweet trip come to think of it. That year I went to Hardcore 2004 and saw Parkway Drive (as well as Shotpointblank, Mindsnare, Miles Away) for the first time. At the end of the year I started going to more hardcore shows in Canberra, saw A Stab in The Dark a bunch of times and Stronger Than Hate play their last ever show.

Most importantly I saw MACHINE HEAD for the first time. I got to meet them and that was pretty amazing. They played such a sweet set. I didn't even mention the Big Day Out, I went twice in Sydney, it's the best I went to...such a good day...Fear Factory, TBE, lostprophets, Muse, Poison The Well, Thursday, Metallica. It was these couple of days where I met people like Brooke and Kelly and a few others who I would spend the rest of the year hanging out with.

My Pop died at the start of 2004. That was a pretty sad way to kick off the year. At the end of the year I went on a trip to Perth with Leon. That was a pretty good time. Ever since I've been saying that I really want to go back to Perth...it's been 5 years. I think I'll get there next year.

Merry Christmas all. I have begun my Christmas at work, not too big a deal, a lady came in wearing a silly Christmas hat. It's not going to be very busy today, I'm certain of that.

Went over to Hayley's place for a few drinks last night. Pretty much every travel company in the region gave us a bottle of wine. We got into some of them last night. Was just really relaxed. Their place is flash, it's a very new apartment. Nice place. It was a good way to spend Christmas Eve up here. Not a big party night, but nice chilled chats. I left at 12.01, so it was officially Christmas when I was gone.

Talking to the family for Christmas on the phone.

I've seen a few people do a bit of a summary of their decade, year by year. For the first 5 years I don't have my lj to look back upon and reflect/verify, I might make an attempt to cover the last ten years. The transition from angst ridden teenager to succesful manager guy...

So let's start with 2000 )

2001-2003 )
I'm mainly doing this cos I'm kinda bored, so let's see how far I get ;)

Just a song I'm really enjoying at the moment.

Sonata Arctica - For the Sake of Revenge )
My morning started a lot earlier than I wanted it to. I stayed up pretty late last night. It's pretty hard to sleep when there is a nightclub which plays the same shitty songs right next door. I can hear it loud and clear in my room. I also swear I heard some jerk running up and down the stairs outside, making a lot of noise. I went out to investigate, but no one was around, maybe I am just going crazy and hearing things.

This morning I got a call from a backpacker, telling me no one was at reception and they needed to store their bags. One of the girls was meant to start at 6.30, it was 7.30 by this time. Disgruntled, I got dressed, still half asleep went about doing some work.

By 9 there were 2 girls on, I was back out of the office, won't return until 5. That is the closest thing I have to a day off this week. Just spent a good long while in the swimming pool we have here in the hostel. Felt so much more relaxed once I finished. Going to head down to the next town to get some stuff from the shops today I think. The shops in town here are horrendously expensive (that's what happens living in a tourist trap).

I'll also try to get another footbag session in today. I've been playing most days, and been playing quite well. Worlds are looking likely to be in the US (San Francisco is looking more and more likely), I'm pretty keen to make it there this year.

So I guess I should go outside and get these plans into action.

Two things:

HOUSE!!!

....

Hmm. For those who can't read the locked post: 2 weeks and it's all done. We're in the house.

Secondly, I have just spent the last 19 hours playing with [info]isabelle_tea and [info]muncher666's new KITTENS!!!! They are so. damn. cute.

They called one of the cats Binks, like out of Hocus Pocus, and if Fergie allows me to have two cats, I want to call the other one Zackery to her Binks.

However, being woken up at 6am by 10 week old kittens tearing through the room instead of continuing to sleep in their cutely harmonious puppy pile might have given me my first possible reason for not wanting two kittens that will bounce off one another.

No, seriously, bounce. They bounce. Off each other, off couches, it's soooo funny.

I like to party fucking hard.
I like my rock and roll the same
Don't give a fuck if I burn out. Don't give a fuck if I fade away.
So back to the Motor-League with me
before I'm forced to face the wrath of a well-heeled buying public who live vicariously through tortured-artist college-rock and floor-punching macho pabulum. Back to the Motor League I go.

Once thought I drew a lucky hand. Turned out to be a live grenade of play-acting "anarchists" and Mommy's-little-skinheads, death-threats and sycophants and wieners drunk on straight-edge. Fuck off. Who cares?

I'd rather hi-lite Trip-Tiks than listen to your bullshit. Fuck off. Who cares about your stupid scenes, your shitty zines, the straw-men you build up to burn.

It never ceases to amaze me and as I'm suffering your perfection it reminds me of my own race to redress my own sad history of mouthed feet. Eaten hats. Teated bulls. Amish phone-books. Drunken brawls.

But what have we here? 15 years later it still reeks of 'Swill and Chickenshit Conformists with their fists in the air; like-father, like-son "rebels” bloated on korn, eminems and bizkits. Lord, hear our prayer: take back your Amy Grant mosh-crews and your fair-weather politics. Blow-dry my hair and stick me on a ten-speed.

Back to the Motor League. I guess life is just a popularity contest. Success, the ability to perform within a framework of obedience. Just ask the candy-coated Joy-Cam rock-bands selling shoes for venture-capitalists, silencing competing messages, rounding off the jagged edges. Today is good day to die.

My sister currently hates me because I brought home and injured budgie and she doesn't like it.

He's the cutest little terror though; he's been in his cage for just over a day and he's already worked out how to open the doors, and I had to replace his loose seed with a honeystick because he just sits in it and kicks it out for lols. He's gonna be a lot of work, I admit, but he's so tiny and awesome X3

Speaking of birds, I bought Nathan's parents (yes folks, he's not my biological brother) a duck and a chicken through the World Vision Smiles Program for Christmas.

They dig stuff like that. I was going to buy them a small toy chicken and duck too but I couldn't find anything, so I bought a blank card with two ducklings on it and compromised. Behold, this year's Christmas card! XD

My comb and beak is pastede on yey.

Tomorrow is [info]thesundaywriter's Christmas party, Christmas eve I'm working, and then I'm heading up to Geelong for Christmas with Nathan's family before coming back for Christmas with my own family. If I don't talk to you internet people before then, have a good one! I'll leave you with some quality music to make it even better:

Also, today while I was out Christmas shopping I walked past a mannequin and noticed her top wasn't on properly. I fixed it and straightened her wig without even thinking. I THINK I HAVE SOME ISSUES, GUYS.
